Products Description of Metformin hydrochloride CAS#1115-70-4
Metformin hydrochloride is a biguanide oral hypoglycemic drug, also known as metformin hydrochloride, Glucophage, and Medicon. Its hypoglycemic effect is weaker than that of phenformin. Its main function is to reduce the secretion of glucagon in A cells and promote the conversion of glucose into glycogen. It has the characteristic of not stimulating pancreatic β-cells to secrete insulin.

Product Application of Metformin hydrochloride CAS#1115-70-4
This product is a hypoglycemic drug. This product can reduce fasting and postprandial hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes, and HbAlc can be reduced by 1% to 2%. The mechanism of this product in lowering blood sugar may be: ① Increase the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin and increase insulin-mediated glucose utilization. ② Increase the utilization of glucose by non-insulin-dependent tissues, such as the brain, blood cells, renal medulla, intestines, skin, etc. ③ Inhibit hepatic gluconeogenesis and reduce hepatic glucose output. ④ Inhibit intestinal wall cells from taking up glucose.
Function and indication: For mild diabetes
Metformin hydrochloride is an antidiabetic agent that reduces blood glucose levels and increases insulin sensitivity. Its metabolism (including inhibition of hepatic gluconeogenesis) is activated through the LKB1-AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase) pathway.
