Sodium hyaluronate is also known as sodium glycosaminoglycan. It is a physiological active substance widely present in the human body. It is a high-molecular-weight linear mucopolysaccharide composed of a disaccharide unit of glucuronic acid and acetylated hexosamine. Its molecular weight is 1 million. In water, it forms a viscous and elastic solution with physiological acidity and ionic strength. The molecular form is variable, so it can also be injected through a finer syringe. The substances in sodium hyaluronate that do not cause inflammation are extracted and called Healon. This product, when 10mg is dissolved in 1ml of physiological saline, its viscosity can be 200,000 times higher than aqueous humor or physiological saline. The protein content of Healon is less than 0.5%, and it is a sterile and highly pure solution.
