Ethylene glycol di-stearate is an important additive in the cosmetics industry. It can be used as a pearlescent agent, conditioner and thickener in washing products such as shampoos and bath liquids. It is synthesized by esterifying ethylene glycol with stearic acid. The traditional synthesis process has a high reaction temperature, generally ranging from (150 to 210°C).
