Products Description of 2-Butoxyethanol CAS#111-76-2

2-Butoxyethanol (2-BE), a clear, colorless liquid with an ether-like odor, is primarily synthesized by reacting ethylene oxide with butyl alcohol or alternatively through ethylene glycol and dibutyl sulfate. It serves extensively as a solvent in protective coatings like lacquers, enamels, varnishes, and latex paints, and is a key component in paint thinners, strippers, agricultural chemicals, herbicides, industrial/household cleaners (degreasers), metal cleaners, inks, dry-cleaning compounds, liquid soaps, and cosmetics. Its acetate form, 2-butoxyethanol acetate (ethylene glycol monobutyl ether acetate), contaminates air, water, and soil during manufacture, industrial use, and product formulation

Product Application of  2-Butoxyethanol CAS#111-76-2

2-Butoxyethanol is a reagent in synthesising 4-butoxyethoxy-N-octadecyl-1,8-naphthalimide as a new fluorescent probe for determining proteins. It is also used as a reagent in synthesising 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde derivatives as tyrosinase inhibitors. It is used widely as a coupling solvent because of its superior coupling efficiency and excellent solvency for resins. Ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (2-Butoxyethanol) is used as a solvent for nitrocellulose, resins, oil, and grease and in dry cleaning.
