Fluconazole is a new triazole antifungal drug first developed by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in the United States. It has a broad-spectrum antifungal effect and is a systemic antifungal product. It is highly selective in inhibiting fungal cytochrome P-450-dependent enzymes and is also a potent and specific inhibitor of fungal alcohol synthesis.
