Dioctyl sebacate, also known as bis-2-ethylhexyl sebacate, referred to as DOS, is made by esterification of sebacic acid and 2-ethylhexanol. It is suitable for polyvinyl chloride, vinyl chloride copolymers, nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose and synthetic rubber. It has high plasticizing efficiency, low volatility, excellent cold resistance, good heat resistance, light resistance and electrical insulation, and good lubricity when heated, making the product look and feel good. It is especially suitable for making cold-resistant wire and cable materials, artificial leather, film, plate, sheet, etc.

Product Application of Dioctyl sebacate CAS # 122-62-3
This product is an excellent cold-resistant plasticizer with low volatility, so it can be used at higher temperatures. This product has good weather resistance and electrical properties, and is an ideal plasticizer for cold-resistant cable materials. Its disadvantages are that it is easily extracted by hydrocarbon solvents, easy to migrate, and its water extraction resistance is not ideal. Due to its poor compatibility, this product is often used in combination with phthalates. In addition to being used to make polyvinyl chloride cable materials, it is also widely used in polyvinyl chloride cold-resistant films and chemicalbook products such as artificial leather, plates, and sheets. It can also be used as a plasticizer for a variety of synthetic rubbers and plastics such as nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, polymethyl methacrylate, polystyrene, and vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymers. In addition, this product is also used as lubricating oil and grease for jet engines and as a stationary liquid for gas chromatography. This product is non-toxic. When mixed into feed and fed to rats at a dose of 200 mg/kg for 19 months, no toxic effects were observed, and it was also non-carcinogenic. It can be used in food packaging materials.
