Products Description of 2-Ethylhexanol CAS#104-76-7

2-Ethylhexanol is usually called octanol in the field of plasticizers. It is an important chemical raw material. In addition to being used to produce plasticizers, octanol is also used to produce octyl acrylate or as a surfactant. It can be mainly used to produce: dioctyl phthalate (DOP), dioctyl oxalate (DOA), trioctyl trimellitate (TOTM), other plasticizers, octyl acrylate, surfactants, chemical book additives for bone lubricating oil, mining, diesel fuel additives, solvents and preparations, rust inhibitors, and other chemicals. Octanol itself is a useful solvent, defoamer, dispersant, and lubricant. Its series of products are mainly plasticizers such as dioctyl phthalate and octyl acrylate. Dioctyl phthalate produced with octanol as raw material is the main plasticizer for PVC, and its consumption for PVC accounts for about 95% of its total consumption.

Product Application of 2-Ethylhexanol CAS#104-76-7

2-Ethyl-1-hexanol is suitable for use in a study to compare its susceptibilities of dynamic heat capacity and dielectric polarization under isothermal conditions. It may be used to study lipase-catalyzed transesterification (alcoholysis) of rapeseed oil and 2-ethyl-1-hexanol in the absence of solvent. 2-Ethyl-1-hexanol may be used in broadband dielectric spectroscopy studies of the polyalcohols-glycerol, xylitol and sorbitol. It may be used in the preparation of porous beads.
