Sodium metabisulfite (chemical formula: Na2S2O5) seems as a white crystalline or powder strong with a mild sulfur odor. It is poisonous upon inhalation and can strongly irritate pores and skin and tissue. It can be decomposed to launch poisonous oxide fumes of sulfur and sodium upon excessive temperature.
