Depending on the difference in relative molecular mass, the appearance of polydimethylsiloxane ranges from colorless transparent volatile liquid to extremely viscous liquid or silicone gel. It has physiological inertness, good chemical stability, electrical insulation and weather resistance, a wide viscosity range, a low freezing point, a high flash point, excellent hydrophobic properties, and high shear resistance. It can be used for a long time at temperatures ranging from 50 to 180 degrees Celsius. At the same time, PDMS has good permeability and is an ideal carrier material for various biochemical sensors.
