Molecular weight 90.08. Melting point 16.8℃, boiling point 122℃ (1.8665～1.9998kPa), Ka＝1.38×10-9(25℃). Industrial products are liquids with sour taste, soluble in water, ethanol, slightly soluble in ether, insoluble in chloroform, carbon disulfide and petroleum ether. Lactic acid is easily miscible with water and is not easy to crystallize. When the concentration of lactic acid reaches more than 60%, Chemicalbook has high hygroscopicity. Therefore, commercial lactic acid is usually a 60% solution, the content of pharmacopoeia-grade lactic acid is 85.0%～90.0%, and the content of food-grade lactic acid is more than 80%. Usually lactic acid is a colorless or slightly yellow liquid, which can be purified by steam distillation. Repeated fractionation under vacuum conditions of 67～133Pa can obtain high-purity lactic acid, and then obtain monoclinic crystalline lactic acid.
