Products Description of Progesterone CAS#57-83-0
Progesterone (English: progesterone, also known as progesterone, progesterone, progestin, progestogen, progestin, lutein or progesterone, its abbreviation is P4, also known as (pregnant-4-ene-3,20-dione), is an endogenous steroid and progestogen hormone, and is also the main progestogen in the body, secreted by the female ovaries. Progesterone is a steroid hormone containing 21 carbon atoms secreted by the ovarian luteal cells. It is also an intermediate product for the synthesis of all steroid hormones and is one of the progestogens. There are two crystal forms, namely α-type and β-type. The two crystal forms have the same physiological activity. The α-type is precipitated from dilute ethanol and is an orthorhombic white prismatic crystal. The β-type is an orthorhombic white needle crystal. Both are insoluble in water, but soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, acetone, dioxane and concentrated sulfuric acid.

Product Application of Progesterone CAS#57-83-0
Progesterone has a significant morphological effect on the endometrium stimulated by estrogen in the body, and is necessary to maintain pregnancy. In the late menstrual period, it promotes the development and proliferation of the endometrium together with estrogen, changing it from the proliferation period to the secretion period, creating conditions for the implantation of the fertilized egg and the development of the embryo; during the menstrual period, it causes the endometrium to shed completely; during pregnancy, it inhibits the movement of the uterus and the sensitivity to oxytocin, has a tocolytic effect, and together with estrogen, it promotes further development of the breast to prepare for milk production; large doses can inhibit the secretion of luteinizing hormone by the anterior pituitary through the feedback regulation of the hypothalamus-anterior pituitary-ovarian axis, thereby inhibiting ovulation and playing a contraceptive role. Progesterone can be used for habitual abortion, threatened abortion, functional uterine bleeding, metrorrhagia, dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, amenorrhea, and ureteral stones. Prostatic hyperplasia, sleep apnea syndrome, and intractable liver cirrhosis ascites, etc.
