Procaine hydrochloride is a local anesthetic that can temporarily block the conduction of nerve fibers and has an anesthetic effect. It has a strong effect, low toxicity, and is non-addictive. The aqueous solution of this product is relatively stable between pH 3.0 and 5.0. The aromatic amino group in the structure of this product generates a diazonium salt with sodium nitrite in dilute hydrochloric acid, and a coupling reaction occurs with alkaline β-naphthol to generate a scarlet azo compound.
