Sodium lactate industrial product purity ≥ 99%, colorless to pale yellow viscous liquid, odorless. Melting point -26℃, boiling point 120℃ (decomp, 1.33kPa). Vapor pressure negligible (25℃), relative density 1.33 (20℃). Solubility in water: highly soluble, miscible with ethanol, insoluble in ether and chloroform. Stable, incompatible with strong acids and heavy metal ions.

sodium lactate keeps a product’s pH from becoming too acidic. It is moisturizing and moisture binding, as well as being a keratolytic, helping exfoliate excess cells from the surface of the stratum corneum. It is also used as a substitute for glycerin. Sodium lactate is naturally occurring in the skin.
