Carrageenan industrial product purity ≥ 99%, white to pale yellow powder, odorless. Melting point decomposes on heating, boiling point decomposes. Vapor pressure negligible (25℃), relative density 1.50 (20℃). Solubility in water: soluble (more readily in hot water), insoluble in ethanol, ether and most organic solvents. Stable, incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
