Molecular sieve is a kind of aluminosilicate compound with cubic lattice, which is mainly composed of silicon and aluminum connected by oxygen bridges to form an empty skeleton structure. There are many channels with uniform pore size and neatly arranged holes with large internal surface area in the structure. In addition, it also contains metal ions with low electric charge and large ion radius and water in chemical state. Because water molecules are continuously lost after heating, but the crystal skeleton structure remains unchanged, many cavities of the same size are formed, and the cavities are connected by many micro-pores of the same diameter. These tiny holes have uniform diameters and can adsorb molecules smaller than the diameter of the holes into the inside of the holes, while repelling molecules larger than the holes. Therefore, it can separate molecules with different shapes and diameters, molecules with different polarity, molecules with different boiling points, and molecules with different saturation levels, that is, it has the function of "screening" molecules, so it is called molecular sieve. At present, molecular sieves are widely used in chemical, electronic, petrochemical, natural gas and other industries.

Molecular sieves, 3A is used as desiccant in petroleum and chemical industries. It is useful for the drying of unsaturated hydrocarbons such as ethylene, propylene and butadiene. It is also used in the removal of water from ethanol. It finds application in the drying of certain chemicals namely ethanol, refrigerants and natural gas. It plays an important role as selective adsorption of water in insulated glass (IG) and polyurethane. It has been considered as a general-purpose drying agent in polar and non polar media.
